Literacy Center West Graduation Day!

  • Elder High School Schaeper Center (map)

A class of 70 graduates will receive their GEDs May 1 during Santa Maria Community Services’ graduation ceremony at Elder High School’s Schaeper Center.

Santa Maria’s Literacy Center West set a record with 93 GED graduates in 2013, growing from 54 in 2012 and 35 in 2011.

“We are so proud of these graduates and their determination to achieve their goals,” says H.A. Musser Jr., Santa Maria president and CEO. “Through education, these graduates have improved their lives and the lives of their families. Our whole Price Hill community is better for it.”

The graduation ceremony begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public. The guest speaker will be Carolyn Glaspy, mother of late Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry, and a dinner for all guests will follow the ceremony.

“This ceremony is a wonderfully inspiring event, and I encourage guests to attend in support of their neighbors,” Musser says. “These graduates are proof of what persistence and hard work can accomplish.”
