Keep Cincinnati Beautiful (KCB) has some exciting news for East Price Hill. Some of you may have heard already that Vacant Lots: Occupied (VLO)is coming back to Price Hill this Spring for a transformative workshop on the weekend of May 20th-22nd!
For those unfamiliar with VLO, it's a 3 credit-hour course offered by the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art & Planning (DAAP), developed in partnership with KCB. This weekend-long workshop links design students & professionals to neighborhoods in order to create plans to turn vacant lots into valuable community assets.
Over the last few years, we've refined the scope of this workshop from a city-wide analysis of vacancy, to looking at vacant lots in a neighborhood, to site-specific designs. This time around, we're very excited to report that Keep Cincinnati Beautiful has been awarded funds from the SC Ministry Foundation to bring one of these designs to life at the Northeast corner of Warsaw Ave. & McPherson – cattycorner to Krogers!
KCB & UC have partnered up with Seton High School (these students will also be engaging in the design process), Price Hill Will & the Port Authority to make this happen; but there's one thing missing--to make this project a success, we need to hear from community stakeholders! That's where you come in. The VLO team would like to visit meetings, events & businesses in order to gain feedback. The attached postcard can be left in storefronts with a comment box as well.
Please call Melissa at 352-4388 if you'd like to engage in this process!
Note: any feedback received will be compiled and presented to students from UC & Seton HS participating in the Vacant Lots: Occupied course; these students will use your feedback to inform their designs. We will do our best to incorporate as much feedback as possible!
